Grange SLSC Nippers!

The Grange Juniors (“Grange Nippers”) program promotes beach safety and awareness, inclusiveness, fun, confidence, fitness and teamwork. New members are always welcome.

Designed for children from age 5 to 13 years, the Grange Nippers program is based on Surf Life Saving Australia’s National Surf Education Program. It is structured to cater for children of all abilities gradually teaching them surf life saving skills as well as developing their ability to compete in the surf sports environment.

Grange is a family and community club with an enjoyable environment providing training and participation in areas starting at basic surf safety to advanced competition.

With the support of trained instructors, junior activities are aimed at building leadership skills and provides a training ground for tomorrow’s lifesavers who are confident and independent individuals.

Not only will we teach children valuable beach safety skills, we hope to instil a sense of belonging and a place where they will make friends for life.

Nipper Season Dates & Times

The junior surf life saving season runs from mid October until mid March.

Grange SLSC offers optional training sessions during the week with the main session generally held on Saturday afternoons.

Approximately 4-5 carnivals are also held across the season usually on a Sunday.

Detailed season and weekly training programs are communicated to members early in the season.

Dates

The 2024-25 season program has been released with:

Nippers (U8 – U13 age groups) starting on Saturday 5 October 2024 at Seaton Swim Centre and commencing on the beach at Grange SLSC on Saturday 26 October
Tiny Tots (U6 and U7 age group) starting Saturday 2 November 2024

Times

Generally, Under 8 to Under 13s should arrive at 12:45pm and expect to finish up by 3:30pm. Under 6 and Under 7s run from about 1:15pm to 2:30pm. Parking can be busy so allow an extra 10 minutes to arrive on time.

Nipper Age Groups

The Grange Nippers program caters for children aged from 5 to 13. The Under 6 and Under 7 age groups participate in a modified program called Tiny Tots. A child’s age group is based on their age at the start of the surf life saving season (1 October).

Tiny Tots

Under 6 | 5 years old on 30 September (or once they turn 5 during the season)
Under 7 | 6 years old on 30 September

New and renewing members

New and renewing membership fees are available on our Membership page.

There also some additional costs including uniform.

Sports Vouchers

Grange SLSC participates in the South Australian Government’s Sports Vouchers program. The program provides an opportunity for children from Reception to Year 9 to receive up to a $100 discount on sport (including Nippers).

Families are asked to pay memberships in full and Grange SLSC will refund the family the Sports Vouchers payment/s when the voucher/s are authorised.
